Let’s face it, everyone has heard of the term “Sweet Spot” right? However; who knows where the sweet spot is on a baseball or softball bat? The truth is, nobody knows where it is and that is the problem!

If you hand a bat to anyone you know and ask; “Can you put your finger on the center of the sweet spot”. Do you think anyone would actually know where it is? Nope, they would have no idea. Even seasoned baseball and softball players; even MLB players, even hitting coaches have no idea where the sweet spot is located and that is a BIG problem if you want to be a great batter.

The reality is that unless you can swing a bat and hit the ball within the area of the bat called the Sweet Spot Zone, you can’t hit a homerun or even a good solid hit. That is a big part of why becoming a great hitter is so darn difficult.

Why is the sweet spot so elusive? The reason is because the entire sweet spot zone is an area that varies in width from bat to bat but on average, is less than 2 inches (5 CM) wide. Picture that for a minute; the location on the barrel of every bat that will generate great hits is shorter than your little pinky finger or about the size of the short side of a credit card. Now picture this; that means that from the centerline of the sweet spot, you only have a 1-inch area towards the end of the bat and a 1inch area towards the handle, to hit the center of the ball. So, the bottom line is simple, if you are going to be a good hitter, you need to know where that sweet spot is located on your bat and you need to know how close to the sweet spot centerline you are hitting every ball.

Every bat has a sweet spot center and a sweet spot zone. So how on Earth do you find out where it is? Well, the problem is twofold. The 1st problem is that nobody knows how to locate the sweet spot on a bat and the 2^nd problem is that the sweet spot is located in a different place on every bat because no two bats are exactly alike. That is because bats have many differences like a) they are made of different wood species or b) of aluminum or c) of composite or fiberglass materials; d) bats have different diameters; e) bats have different overall lengths; f) bats have different length barrels and g) bats are shaped differently from one another. Wow, that’s a lot of variables! This is why every baseball and softball team needs to have just one (1) Bat Magic device to make every player a better hitter.

What is Bat Magic used for?

Locating the optimum hitting location on any bat which is universally known as the “Sweet Spot”.
Permanently mark out the Sweet Spot Center’s X/Y axis crosslines on any bat. These crosslines will show you where to place the impact labels.
Applying an impact label over the “Sweet Spot Hitting Zone” on any bat, along with a red dot sticker on the exact sweet spot center. Hitting balls on this label placed on the barrel of the bat, will leave a visual bruise impression, showing where each ball impacts the bat relative to the red dot sticker. This gives the batter immediate feedback on ones hitting accuracy.
Locating the wood grain on wooden bats so that the optimum hitting side of the bat is parallel with the wood grain of the bat. Bat Trademarks are not always perfectly placed on the bat so hitting balls in the wrong side of the bat can result in broken bats.
